on climate change - claude anshin thomas

Question: Do you ever feel a sense of hopelessness or despair about the climate crisis?

Claude AnShin Thomas: I don’t feel hopeless about the climate crisis itself, but I do feel sad and unsettled about people’s insensitivity and lack of care for the world around them. That’s what bothers me.

But the news stories of the day can seduce us into focusing too much outside of ourselves. As in so many things, it comes back to the question: What am I willing to do in my own life?

It’s very possible that humanity will not survive the climate crisis. Perhaps our species’ addiction to fossil fuels and consumerism will drive us to extinction. But some form of life will continue on after we are gone.
